ECOO is the European Council of Optometry and Optics, the umbrella organization of 40 national professional organisations from 25 countries in Europe. ECOO follows relevant legislation affecting opticians and optometrists in Europe, on topics including driving and vision, medical devices, recognition of professional qualifications and cross-border healthcare.
Elaine Grisdale, IOA’s Director of Development has become secretary to the Public Affairs and Economic Committee and as such now sits on the Executive Committee. Speaking about her appointment she said, “I am looking forward to working with colleagues from all over Europe to develop and protect the optical and optometric professions in Europe especially during these challenging times for practitioners.”
Elaine already sits on the Board of Trustees for the European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO) and is a Fellow of the same organization. Working with ECOO expands her commitment to European affairs.
