Frame Selection Considerations: Cosmetic

In this article we will consider what forms part of most opticians’ day-to-day work: helping patients select suitable, comfortable spectacle frames to hold their prescription lenses. Many patients on leaving a consulting room or rising from an autorefractor clutching their prescription, move directly to the frame displays in our practices as they see the frame as being the most important part of their eyewear purchase. As eyecare professionals, we know that whilst it is important to have an appropriate frame to hold lenses, their lenses are the medical device and should have equal if not more importance. This article deals with cosmetic considerations and a subsequent article will cover more technical and prescription considerations.
