France is just a few months away from a decision to provide a 100% refund on optical care, so before the change, the GIFO (Groupement des Industriels et Fabricants de l’Optique) has organised, in collaboration with the Galileo Business Consulting agency, an online survey of 3,000 corrective eyewear users in order to better understand their decision process and purchase intentions.
The survey shows that 89% of wearers of glasses surveyed would be ready to pay more out of their own pocket to opt for eyewear that they find more appealing. It also demonstrates the essential role of optical advisers: 86% of glasses wearers will trust their optician to choose the best option for them on their next purchase. “In view of this opportunity, the study reviews what could convince a customer to go beyond the refund threshold,” explains the GIFO.
The results explain the behaviour of glasses wearers towards 100% optical refunds and the reduction of the refund threshold, as well as their propensity to pay out of pocket (amount, motivation…). The first presentation of findings will happen at SILMO, on Friday 27 September at 2 pm, in room 501.
