IOA president addresses 100 per cent Optical

IOA president, Fiona Anderson, spoke to an audience of eyecare professionals at the 100% Optical show in London in February.

She highlighted how the association’s partnership with trade fair organisers Silmo helps to promote the work of opticians. It enables professionals to keep up to date with new technologies and the latest knowledge.

The IOA hosts the Silmo international optician of the year award. Fiona said the firm has recognised that opticians are at the heart of the optical business, the conduit between the industry and the profession.

Members of the IOA board of directors and senior staff will be at Silmo Singapore from 12 to 14 April. They will be joined by 2021 international optician of the year Helen Whitaker, founder of the Secure Vision Mobile Optical Academy of Canada. The 2022 winner Grant Hanniford of Hannaford Eyewear, Australia, will also attend.

The IOA will deliver the clinical conference, including content from key opinion leaders. These include industry experts from the US, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Canada, the UK, China, France, Spain and Belgium.

They will offer insights on issues from myopia management, improving practice and sustainability to lifestyle, occupational practice and primary care.
