As the planet continues to face the global pandemic that is Covid-19, companies from around the world have been coming together to create solutions to prevent contamination. In the spirit of supporting the medical profession and other occupations coming into contact with the virus on a daily basis, global eyewear company CHARMANT Group has started production of newly developed face shields.
Reducing the exposure to droplets which may contain coronavirus, the first donation of 5,050 ‘CHARMANT SHIELDS’, along with 2,000 pairs of goggles, will be made mid-May to the Fukui prefecture, to be used by medical professionals.
Production will gradually increase to produce 50,000 pieces at the end of May, 100,000 at the end of June, and 200,000-300,000 per month from July onwards, aiming to supply a total of 1 million units by the end of September and 2 million units by the end of December 2020.
“We would like to use our technology, which has been developed through our optical frame and medical devices production, to help as many people who are fighting against coronavirus in the field as possible,” commented Masakiyo Honjo, president and CEO of CHARMANT. “We intend to move forward quickly. For the moment we will start by supplying within Japan but are looking to develop worldwide distribution as our production capacity increases.”
