Introducing a new IOA Summit speaker: Dominique Barraud

Dominique Barraud, of the Collège National des Opticiens de France (CNOF) will present a talk in collaboration with Elaine Grisdale at the upcoming IOA Summit, on the topic of “Seeing well together – ocular harmony and the key to success”.

Elaine Grisdale, FBDO FAAO, is the Director of Development at the IOA as well as Head of Professional Services and International Development at the Association of British Dispensing Opticians. Elaine has had a long and varied career in international professional relations and optics.

Dominique is an experience orthoptist, whose career began in posturology. Dominique quickly became en expert instructor, specialising in several topics, from oculomotor paralysis to child vision polytrauma. For ten years, Dominique was an expert trainer in UNRIO orthoptics, and she has been an expert trainer for OPTIMA (the Fédération Nationale des Opticiens de France) since 2006.

Dominique has taught for the Soins Coordonnés group, Socoform, and the CHNO (Centre Hospitalier National d’Ophtalmologie), at the request of the French Health Ministry. The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs also sent Dominique to the Moroccan Ministry of Health, to help evaluate the visual needs and specific demands of the Moroccan population, in Rabat.

In 2009 Dominique received her diploma in neuro-ophtalmology, and from 2011 to 2013 she became a member of the commission to rework orthoptics degrees within the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, developing the implementation of an LMD (Licence/ Master/ Doctorat).

Dominique was one of the founding members of the CNOF (Collège National des Opticiens de France), in 2016, and became a member of the IOA in 2019.
