An updated Managing Myopia Guidelines Infographic has been produced by Myopia Profile, the clinical information centre for eyecare professionals.
The user-friendly resource was developed with clinicians and industry advisers to simplify myopia management practices. Originally launched in 2019, the refreshed guide is available as a free download in 10 languages, with another seven in current development.
Co-founder of Myopia Profile Dr Kate Gifford said: “Introducing the revised Managing Myopia Guidelines Infographic is an important step in our ongoing mission to transform myopia care practices.
“This resource streamlines complexities and helps eyecare professionals deliver optimal patient care by offering engaging and evidence-based prescribing guidelines and communication strategies.
“From the initial exam chair consultation to post-visit education and long-term clinical care, it guides practitioners in every step of the myopia management journey.”
The infographic contains two sections. A handy reference guide for eyecare professionals offers information on:
Another part highlights patient and parent communication, from visual environments and interventions to the ease of wearing contact lenses for children.
The site offers a brochure for parents and carers seeking further information. Eyecare professionals can follow QR codes on the infographic for further information on MyopiaProfile.com. Codes for parents and carers point to more details on MyKidsVision.org. The infographic can be used as a digital display or printed in a variety of sizes as a practice wall poster or handheld communication tool.
Further resources for eyecare professionals include articles on using the infographic with links for additional reading on the evidence base and communication tips. Dr Gifford also discusses practical applications in a video available on Myopia Profile’s YouTube channel.
“Our commitment extends beyond the creation and design of the infographic to guarantee that eycare professionals also have the necessary information to integrate it into their practices, including in clinical communication and staff training,” said Dr Gifford. “Ensuring they can effectively leverage this resource is essential for enhanced patient care and education.”
