Meet the ABDO team at 100 per cent Optical, London

The team from the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) will be out in force at 100% Optical, the UK event for the optical profession. Visit stand B210 to meet the ABDO president, vice president and staff at different times throughout the show. Members can take advantage of a coffee, chair and catch up from 10am each day of the event.

See live foreign body removal and axial length measurement demonstrations at the stand. Talk to ABDO clinical lead Max Halford to ask about myopia management, MECS and more: Saturday 11.30am and 4pm; Sunday 12.45pm. Meet a representative of the examinations and registration team Saturday and Sunday 10-3pm to discuss any questions you have, whether you are a student or supervisor.

ABDO’s CPD team will be running two CPD discussion workshops each day of the conference and you can meet a member of the CPD team on the ABDO stand 11am-12 noon Saturday, 12-1pm on Sunday and 11am-12 on Monday.

Sessions are:

1 - The dispensing optician: the healthcare professional with Alex Webster. This workshop will explore the relevant legislation and regulation to establish the extent of the role of the dispensing optician in the UK. Optical care in the UK is commonly provided by a multidisciplinary team and it is essential that all team members understand the abilities and scope of practice of the dispensing optician.

2 - The management of ptosis with Cheryl Hill. This workshop will use small group discussion and provide equipment to show an understanding of the causes of ptosis, discuss different types of correction and take the relevant measurements to fit a frame with a ptosis aid.

Meet

ABDO’s Nick Walsh will be on the stand every day to discuss management and leadership training: 10am-12 noon and 1pm-6pm Saturday; 10am-12 noon and 1pm-6pm, Sunday 2-6pm and Monday all day. You can also catch up with Alicia Thompson about ABDO’s new plans for research on Saturday and Sunday morning 10am-1pm.
