The SILMO d’Or ceremony is one of the highlights of the French SILMO optical exhibition, visited this year by more than 35,888 guests who had come to discover the 970 exhibitors’ creative innovations.
In a ceremony presided over by French designer and interior architect Christophe Pillet, the jury rewarded the best in optical innovation and the most memorable frames of the year. The ceremony took place on the evening of the 28th September, at the Pavillion d’Armenonville, in Paris’ 16th arrondissement.
Among the winners: a frame made of wood that can be ergonomically adapted to different face shapes; innovative reading glasses for people with dyslexia; and the first contact lens to adapt to light levels, minimising visual effort and glare.
“I’m not looking for the extraordinary,” explained Christophe Pillet about the winning entries, “rather to reveal what is beautiful and moving in the ordinary.”
